In this contribution, we present new VLT observations in the V and I bands which uncover the lower PMS of NGC 2362. Because the cluster is virtually free from dust and nebular contamination, which compromise the observations of most young clusters, the observed shape of the PMS in the color-magnitude diagram provides a strong observational constraint that theoretical models of early stellar evolution should match.
