A new system was adopted in order to reduce friction while at the same time still allowing the governors to have a meaningful input. The process now starts with a presentation on the subject by the subject coordinator to the full governing body at one of their termly ‘special focus’ meetings. The aim of the presentation is to make the governors aware of the general background before the policy is drafted or revised. Usually a governor is linked to the subject area under discussion and he or she will be involved in the detailed drafting and consultation with other members of staff that then follows.
